Sylvan Learning of Johnston and Community Outreach of Des Moines is currently hiring numerous after school program teachers who have a passion for helping, a positive attitude, and the drive to help students succeed! We have partnered with Des Moines Public School’s East in order to provide an after-school tutoring program for students who are at-risk and are needing support in their math, writing and/or reading skills. You will be leading students to learn foundational skills, build confidence and motivation and give them the keys to succeed.
Teachers who are selected will be implementing our SylvanSync Math and/or Reading program, which provides an individualized, adaptable learning experience for students. You will be working with high school students at a 1:4 ratio and on various skills ranging from fundamentals to higher-level support.
Our weekly schedule will be Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 3:30-5:30 pm with a short-term schedule of Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 9-12 pm for August.
If you are a current DMPS team member, a student teacher, paraeducator or just starting your teaching career, we are interested in being part of your growth and development as an educator! This is a great opportunity to grow your knowledge and experience.
This opportunity is provided by the Beyond the Bell Educational Grant. The hourly rate is $15/hr. Teachers interested should have the passion for wanting to help at risk youth succeed. Room for growth and other positions are available.
