Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on, data-driven Industrial Engineer – Plant Efficiency Specialist to optimize operations in our high-volume beverage bottling and canning facility at Sprecher Brewing Company. This role is critical in identifying and implementing automation, reducing downtime and changeover time, and driving continuous improvement across both our bottle and can lines. The ideal candidate will also lead engineering aspects of capital projects, including new line implementations and upgrades to existing equipment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify areas for efficiency gains, automation, and waste reduction across both bottle, can lines and other areas.
  • Monitor, track, and improve KPIs such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), line speed, downtime, and changeover time.
  • Lead cross-functional kaizen/lean initiatives to improve productivity and throughput across two shifts and team members.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, supply chain and operations teams to troubleshoot bottlenecks and implement sustainable improvements.
  • Serve as the project manager for capital equipment upgrades and new line implementation projects—coordinate design, vendors, installation, and startup.
  • Implement systems for tracking downtime, changeovers, yield, and efficiency; analyze data and develop weekly/monthly performance dashboards.
  • Train team members and supervisors on best practices, create SOPs, and tools to sustain process improvements.
  • Stay up to date with the latest bottling and canning technologies, automation tools, and industry standards.


Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in a high-speed beverage or CPG manufacturing environment.
  • Direct experience with bottling and canning line operations, changeovers, and line efficiency optimization.
  • Experience with CMMS, ERP, or MES systems.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, conveyors, fillers, labelers, and high-speed beverage packaging systems.
  • Project management experience with new line startup or capacity expansion projects.
  • Proven track record in leading plant efficiency, automation, or capital improvement projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work on the plant floor as well as in strategic planning.
  • Proficient in using data analytics tools, Business Central, Excel, and manufacturing systems to identify and track KPIs.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent continuous improvement training.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time on concrete floors and ability to continuously be active including but not limited to walking, stooping, bending, reaching and crouching.
  • Must have the ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and safely handle hazardous materials and machines.
  • Good vision and hearing.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk and work at a computer.
