Position Overview: As the Import Operator, you play a critical role in ensuring the secure and punctual transit of all import cargo through meticulous handling, prioritizing cost effectiveness, and delivering swift, efficient service to our valued customers. From the inception to the completion of files, you meticulously adhere to company policies and procedures, cultivating a positive office environment. Your responsibilities are carried out in alignment with our stringent quality standards. The Entry Writer ensures the proper classification, duty assessment, timely release, and overall compliance with US Government regulations for shipments where Falcon America is the nominated Customs Broker. List of Responsibilities: Import Operations * Respond promptly to customer/agent rate requests, inquiries, and emails. * Collaborate with customers and overseas agents to obtain prealerts and relevant documentation. * Manage import freight activities for both air and ocean shipments. * Maintain and adhere to client profiles and standard operating procedures (SOPs). * Utilize CargoWise Operating System to open and maintain files. * Monitor and track shipments closely, coordinating with carriers and overseas agents, and updating information in the CargoWise database. * Predispatch delivery orders to truckers. * Keep customers and overseas agents informed with timely updates. * Ensure verification of freight release and payment requirements prior to shipment release for delivery. * Handle invoicing processes, including collecting invoices and Proof of * Delivery (POD) copies from carriers, and issuing invoices to clients and agents. * Fulfill any additional tasks necessary to support team success or as directed by management and supervisors. Entry Writing * Secure documents in a timely manner to ensure prompt review, classification, and document submission to US Customs. * Communicate in a clear and professional manner questions related to classification to the agent and / or the importer. * Update notes in the customer profile and the job files accordingly. * File ISFs timely, pre key entries and preclear US Customs whenever possible. * Perform any other tasks that may contribute to the team s success or are required by management and supervisors. Requirements: * Minimum 3 years of combined experience in Import Operations and Customs Brokerage / Entry Writing with a focus on ocean freight * Willingness to expand existing skills and cross train in Exports Operations * Strong team player with excellent communication skills * Creative problem solving to complex logistics challenges * Residency in the Chicagoland / ORD area
