Job Details

Responsibilities:

Represent clients in court or before government agencies, presenting evidence to defend or prosecute lawsuits. Conduct research, interview clients and witnesses, and handle other details in preparation for trial. Prepare and draft legal documents such as wills, deeds, patent applications, mortgages, leases, and contracts. Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses. Advise clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations. Negotiate settlements of civil disputes. Supervise legal assistants and paralegals. Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law. Confer with colleagues to establish and verify bases for legal proceedings. Evaluate findings and develop strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases. Present and summarize cases to judges and juries. Gather evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.

Qualifications:

Must possess a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. Must be admitted to the Wisconsin State Bar and in good standing. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a personal injury attorney. Proven experience as a plaintiff attorney with a strong background in personal injury litigation. Demonstrable experience with jury trials and first chair trial. Proficiency in legal research and writing, legal document preparation, and legal compliance. Extensive experience in motion practice, depositions, discovery practice, and case management. Familiarity with Filevine and MS Office. Superior negotiation skills and the ability to resolve conflicts. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to provide sound legal advice and case evaluation. A team-oriented mindset and the ability to work collaboratively with other attorneys and staff. Knowledge of personal injury law and the ability to apply that knowledge to real-world situations. Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make sound judgments and decisions.
